Technician Tool Purchase Program Policy
Almcoe Refrigeration provides technicians access to the tools required to perform their work safely and professionally. This policy defines which tools the company provides, which tools technicians are responsible for, and how the voluntary Tool Purchase Program operates.
Almcoe purchases, owns, and maintains the five major tools assigned to each technician. These tools remain company property, are tracked by serial number, and must be returned in working condition upon separation from employment. Loss or damage resulting from negligence may be charged to the technician with signed authorization.
Technicians are responsible for providing their own hand tools. New technicians will receive the required hand tool list at hire and must be fully tooled within 90 days. Hand tools purchased by the technician are the technician's personal property.
To assist technicians, Almcoe offers a voluntary, interest free purchase program. Almcoe will purchase approved hand tools at company cost on the technician's behalf, and the technician repays the balance through payroll deduction under the following terms:
Participation is voluntary. No deduction under this program will reduce a technician's pay below the applicable minimum wage or required overtime compensation in any workweek; any remaining amount will carry to the following pay period.
Participation requires a signed payroll deduction authorization. For technicians with an existing balance, this signature sheet serves as that written authorization, covering the remaining balance and any future purchases under the program. The authorization includes consent to deduct any remaining balance from the technician's final paycheck at separation, to the extent permitted by law, with any shortfall repaid within 30 days of the separation date.
